Hi everyone,
I will be taking Alewtian out of the guild and moving to a new guild fairly soon. I feel that she has outgrown this guild and needs to move on to a larger guild. The guild I am going to raids on the night I am available to raid so it works out better for my schedule. I will be leaving my alts in this guild so that I can still come in and play with you all the nights I am not raiding. This guild is my family and I have made many friends while in here so I want to be able to have fun and keep up with all that's goin on with everyone here. And Alewtian will still be able to help if ya need her at any time.
See ya all in game.
~Alew

Good luck Alew. Raiding can be a fun option in this game. Stay sane through it all and have fun. Not sure if you have already selected a raiding guild to apply to, but be sure to look over their raiding requirements and loot policies. Nothing worse than being limited on raid time and losing loots due to low dkp. I was in that place for a long time. I understood the loot policies and agreed with them, just still a rough spot to be in for advancement.

Take care Alew....remember if you ever need a group you can always call. Off topic, but mentioned here, some time for a n00b question: I see dkp in lots of posts i have read, but never knew what it meant...good time to ask....what is dkp

Someone (Raidleader, guild council) decides the value of certain mobs in relation to difficulty, amount of time to kill, etc. You earn those points and thus spend those points for the loot. Some guilds go the route of saying the one with the higher dkp total will have first option over others. Others go by way of bidding dkp to highest bid on loots. I'm sure there are several more versions out there. The emphasis being, the more you attend raids, stick around to end, the more dkp you get and have to use.

Just be careful, and avoid Valorious. I'm not trying to be mean, but as far as their raid policies go and the treatment of their members, they were by far the worst guild I've ever been in. Alot of raid guilds are also requiring 70 or 75+ now not to count the aa req's. It's just such a hastle to be in a raid guild these days, the people primarily only log on for the raids, at least the people that are generally the good players, the rest are generally the a'holes and haven't been playing long enough to figure out their mouse from their keyboard. Seriously, it's something you really have to think about when joining a raid guild because if you leave for some reason that the officers don't approve of, you can guarantee they're going to rant about it in general and next thing you know you can end up being the next Merker or something That's something i wish on no one. As far as getting drops, just an FYI, you're going to be sol for at least the first 10-15 raids, and then after that you might be able to pull of an earring or something that isn't an upgrade for the long time members. I know RoF used to give out DKP to every toon you brought and it went into your "shared" account so you could spend it on any toon, which means the people who 6 boxed, like Thok, would come away w/ a months worth of DKP for one night. Anyways, was nice meeting you Alew, take care and have fun. Raiders have the highest burn out rate in EQ these days.

Well, all I can say is - I'd hate to have to be the one to calculate and keep track of everyones points, sounds pretty lame to me actually. I mean really, these "uber l33t" guilds that raid 3-4 times per week can just cycle the same mob a few times and everyone gets stuff..oh well just my non-raiding thoughts.
Oh, and thanks much for the explaination.

Geez this raiding isn't all it's cracked up to be is it? lol It will be a while I'm guessing before you no longer see Alew in the guild. I'm gonna do some work on her as welll as leveling up an alt to become my new guild main when the time comes. I just didn't wanna up and disappear without any explanation, who knows she may hate raiding and wanna come crawlin home.

Thank you m'lady for postin /kneel second thank you for letting your fam/ friends know you maybe leaving. and lastly like other above have stated be careful. raiding has changed many a friends of mine.. is why my distaste for raiding. greed is ugly and selfishness is uglier. turns vene the kindest person into something no one likes. I hope to never be that way i have wants but my fam / guild is more important then a drop or two. rather group and get no loot then get a item to link over and over and not care.. be safe in your journeys and stay true never change. /kneel
