So you're thinking about being a wizzy...
Wizards are an awesome class, they can solo fairly easily and can also be very helpful in a group.
Kiting
Wizzies are a great soloing class as long as you choose mobs that can be snared, or one nuked. One bad thing is wizzie snares are AE so they land on the mob you are targeting and every mob near it. Snare can also land on you, so make sure there is distance between you and the mob you intend to snare. Snare does not always land, in which case, you will have an angry mob coming toward you. Be sure you have root up so if snare fails you can root and try to snare again. Once you snare the mob you begin running in a circular shape, known as kiting. Snare slows the mob's run speed so that it doesn't hit you. If the mob is hitting you during kiting you are not doing it right, or your snare broke. Make sure the place you choose to kite is wide open without alot of hills and such because if you run down a hill or around a building the mob will land directly on top of you. When kiting you want to use nukes (direct damage spells) that have a short cast time and do a decent amount of damage. But be sure to pay attention to the mana cost as well. Worst thing is running out and having snare break. Wizzies do not have the ability to heal themselves other than healing potions which are found in the Plane of Knowledge (PoK) between the guild lobby and the bazaar. Kiting works best solo but can also be used in a group setting.
