Whether you feel the lure to be able to sneak where others can't go or see things others can't or amass major damage, rogues are quite fun.
Early levels may allow for soloing but the mid to upper level tiers will require grouping or boxing.
A few skills that a rogue uses are:
Backstab: Rogue only skill that provides for an increased damage.
Rear fighting is required until you get a few aas range backstab.
Pick Lock: Befallen is a nice zone to get to the mid 100 range. I would hold at this point until you are able to zone into Plane of Tranquility. Upon zoning into PoT, you can click the book at the zone in for max skills.
Pick Pocket: Self explanatory
Shroud of Stealth (AA): Complete Inv from most see inv creatures. There are named and maybe some reg mobs that see thru this. This is a critical aa for rogues.
Escape (AA): Another critical aa for rogues. It allows you to do a rogue FD. It is on a timer with further aas that allow for a reduced timer. Save it for when you really need it.
Evade: More of a hotbutton. Set a hotbutton:
/attack off
/hide
/sneak
/pause 10
/attack on
Locate/Disarm Trap: This skill has it uses more and more these days. In some instances you will find that your group is traveling thru a zone invised and you will need to locate the traps in advance to save the aes from dropping inv on group members and causing aggro.
Sneak Attacks: These special attacks are obtained thru your tome line. You must have sneak/hide on for a set time then hit what ever sneak attack disc you have for your level then hit backstab. The timer is pretty much set to be used once per encounter and until your deplete your endurance. As you progress in aas and get triple backstab, etc, you can create a nice opening damage set. Note that this increased damage opening can and will draw the attention of the mob. Usage depending on your meat head , I mean main tank.
Evade will allow you to help the MT control aggro. With a few 6-7k crit backstabs, aggro control can become an issue.
Sneak / Hide / SoS / Escape allow you do many quests that only require ground spawn pick ups, location markers, etc.
Wanderlust Aug, Orb of Mystic Fury, Direwolf Totem are a few that are easily attainable for a rogue.
As a rogue, your main purpose is to deal damage. As bazaar gear continues to progress, you will find it easier and easier to deal mass damage at an earlier level.
Enjoy your individuality and use your skills wisely young grasshopper.
