I've been hanging out on the Sony forums and I've discovered your classes seem to have been overlooked for a vital upgrade that seems to have been given to other pet classes.
At the release of TSS (The Serpent's Spine), I noticed something was up with Shiny Bob (sorbriquet for Enchanter's summoned animation). Someone put him on steroids. In his previous incarnation, his top hit was 88 points. Prior to that, he struck for 75 tops. (Just to give you an idea of how he normally progresses.) Then with TSS and our new pet, Ellowind's Animation, he was striking for....210??? As I noted on Allakhazam.com under this spell's description (nom de plume: "ChanterTime"), I was not at all grateful for this power boost. I was suspicious. Bob is not supposed to be a powerhouse. In fact, he's notoriously gimp. I joke about it all the time.
Someone reassured me that all pets got a substantial upgrade with TSS. Magicians, too. Did any of you Beastlords or Necromancers, since TSS notice anything?
Then I've been looking on the parses that people are posting for Necromancer pets and Beastlord Warders and I'm seeing top hits of...160??? While Bob's latest incarnation is striking for 278 or thereabouts. Obviously, this should not be.
The problem is that the posters on this board are not so effective at arguing their case. A Beastlord for instance, spends his entire time complaining about how powerful Magician pets are (you cannot request nerfs on Sony Forums; that is totally against the rules), and instead of supplying pertinent data, such as logs, parses, etc., he's prefers to use whiny, unspecific terms, feeling sorry for himself, etc. And his lack of pertinent data often defeats his own agenda. He complained for instance that his last slow upgrade was at level 70 and lasted for "only" 3 minutes. (The Enchanters and Shamen, both better slowers, got their last slow at level 69, and it lasts only a minute and a half. Obviously, this complaint didn't fly.)
So, I would urge you to use the feedback forms available at station.sony.com with pertinent information, logs, etc. about your pets. Log the previous incarnations, before and after TSS, and note the progression in parses, with the current DPS. Or, you can just sign in and join us on the forums.
(Because that Beastlord is making me insane. It's all whine, whine, whine, complaining about the Magician's air pet, and sobbing uncontrollably about his poor Beastlord class, using words like "pitiful..." Every time I open one of his posts, I'd like to turn his Warder into a Druid pet, and make his melee skills about as good as Lockdown's. I'll give him something to cry about.
I can't imagine he's helping anything, if he's causing everyone who reads his excessive laments to be glad he's miserable.)
I should have guessed this was going on. I remember how easily Vlaiyne's pet died when he and I duoed in Loping Plains. I remember thinking that this shouldn't happen. The second or third best pet in the game shouldn't be falling so quickly to a mob that I slowed! And despite the level differences between Vlaiyne and myself, his pet should be more than a match for mine.
I've always said that Enchanter pets were fourth in the lineup of pets...a DISTANT fourth. Whether Necros or Beasts hold the second place slot, they should be vastly more powerful than Shiny Bob.
The reason that this went overlooked is because Necromancers and Beastlords got a simple linear boost for their pets with TSS. A DPS/HP increase that is consistent with previous ones. By contrast, Enchanters Magicians and Shadowknights got a jump with that expansion, then continued to progress normally.
So, I would urge you, Necromancers and Beastlords, please do what you feel is best to make this issue heard. Because your pets have been gypped, and that's wrong. The only thing I would suggest is sticking to the facts. DPS, logs, parses. Don't compare yourself to other classes. Don't whine. Just the facts.
And I will continue to do my part on the Sony Forums, posting the various incarnations of Shiny Bob, logs of his DPS against easy mobs.
