Well for the better part of the past 3 days I have been working research using the trade-skill guide 5.0 that is posted here in this section. For the most part its been very easy and a bit expensive but in the end when I can make lots of spells for us all, that are always overpriced in the baz. Right now my triv is at 238 by the end of the day im hoping to be at 300 at least. So if you have a spell ya need research please feel free to ask or leave me a reply here and ill do my best to get it for ya. /Hugz Naturez

Wow, thta's a good skill level. I skill morrty up pretty slowly but I've been working on him lately.
I have noticed that saltpeter drops much faster in Corathus Creep than the Plane of Innovation. Almost all the Creepers drop it.
And while crystalized sulfur drops in many places, I've taken a likeing to the Geonids in the Wakening Land because they're all lined up in the caves basically and if I'm farming them I just keep moving around in a big loop, I don't have to run around looking for them.

Me again.
I got my research to 200 then spent a few days getting the 3 AA's I needed to bring it over 200.
Except.. I was reading the Taanan AA description and also went to EQTraders and neither one said research was soft capped at 200.
It didnt seem right, it was not a single skill like Rogue/shaman/gnome has poison/alchmey/tinkering although it IS limited to INT classes but I asked online and then made a few combines and woof! I went over 200. Phew, I almost spent 3 AA for nothing.
My tinkering will be coming to 200 one of these days and it also does not need the Taanan AA.
So out of 3 skills I work on with morrty, Jewels, tinkering, research I haven't needed the Taanan AA.
Poor morro went over 200 with Fletching way back doing his coldain cloak quest and then he had to get the Taanan AA for sewing his weightless bags.

It's kind to offer, but "words" and "pages" are no longer used in spell research. Those items are now just vendor fodder, nothing more.
Spell research is now done by intelligence casters (Enchanter, Magician, Necromancer, Wizard) and no one else.
Even the non-purecaster classes that use spells cannot make spells for their own class. If a wisdom caster (Cleric, Druid or Shaman) or hybrids (Ranger, Shadowknight, Paladin, Bard, Beastlord) want a spell researched, they must avail themselves of an intelligence caster with sufficient skill.
While the recipes are complex and varied (much more so prior to the SoF expansion), certain standards are universal. For instance, regardless of the spell being researched, the type of quill used in the combine is class specific. Each class has their own quill to be used for their spells and will use that quill regardless of the level or type of spell. And even those spells that are usable by more than one class must use their specific quill, because the combine result will result in a class specific spell. Your spell that is usable by four classes will come out flagged for one specific class. And no other class will be able to scribe it in their spell book.
Also, each level of spell has a specific type of parchment. Regardless of the class for whom the spell is made, the parchment used is based upon the level of the spell being scribed.
I have a chart that I posted on another board. When that board is back up (currently under maintenance), I will copy and paste the information.
