I deleted my previous reply. I've decided to add some pointers to encourage Enchanters to get this valuable piece. Some of the tasks are merely a matter of picking up ground spawns and performing non-violent quests and could be done by even a first level Enchanter. So, in light of the fact that some have elected to create new Enchanters, bear in mind, the more tasks you knock out, the less you have to do later on, and the less overwhelming the task is.
Knowing what I know now, I would simply start knocking out the easy stuff in the early levels, before I need to do it. You could keep a bag or two in your bank, set aside just for your epic drops.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (This is a prequest. Merely one of several reasons that I consider the Enchanter Epic to be among the most difficult in Everquest.) Part One: [ ] 1a. Ink of the Dark. [ ] 1b. Mechanical Pen (Got the robe, just need to hand it in) This involves turning in the Shining Metallic Robe to a Gnome in AkAnon, and he gives you the Mechanical pen in exchange. [ ] 1c. White Paper
(Now for the quest itself.)
Part Two (last part really): [ ] 2a. Jeb Lumsed / Sarnak Imitator [ ] 2b. Give him the Copy of Notes and recieve Jeb's Seal [ ] 2c. Give him the final pieces of combined staff to recieve the Staff of the Shissar
Part Three: [ ] 3a. Chalice of the Kings
Chardok here you come. You need a Head of a Prince to get this item, as Chalice is a reward for turning in the "head of a Prince."
[ ] 3b. Xolian Rod
The Xolian Rod is the property of Vessel Drozlin, a 60th level Shadowknight Iskar in the sewers of Cabilis. He resists extraordinarily high. So, count on nothing landing except Tash.
Drozlin apparently guards this item jealously. Every time a trash mob comes by, he kills it vowing that it will never get the Xolian Rod. (I'm not sure the decaying skeleton I once saw him harm touch for 1K had designs on getting his rod.) Bring help for this. You can't do it alone. As he runs at 20%, you would be ill advised to fight him where he is. He's in a maze of one way doors, and will flee in directions that you can't follow. Pull him to the water. The sewer opening to the east, furthest away from central Cabilis, is an excellent choice. 2-day spawn timer. Watch for him.
The Xolian rod is no trade. You'll have to do this yourself.
[ ] 3c. Snow Blossoms
Any Enchanter who can turn himself into an Ogre can do this. While Illusion: Ogre is a seventeenth level spell, it's easy experience, and the lower you are, the more XP will show. You can avail yourself of Shaman potions. A Dark Elf agnostic Enchanter will need zero or one, depending on how he is received in Ogguk. If you're any other race, you'll probably need two. The first one is to approach Ogguk without getting pulped by the guards, and because illusions don't zone, you'll need another one once inside. Very simple quest. Just remember the illusion.
Do a find for the bag merchant Brokk Boxtripper (location 221, 365). On the ground behind him, you'll see a ground spawn, large muddy sandals. He is practically standing on top of them.
Now find Bozlum Blossom. She is not on find, however, she is a Shaman. And she hangs out with the Shamen Guildmasters. Find the Shaman Guild and she'll be in the area.
Hail her, and she'll sigh.
You ask "What is wrong."
She will explain that she likes to grow flowers in her garden, but "Garden no more."
You ask, "What happened to your garden?"
She explains that someone trampled it. "Bigguns" footprints all over it. (Can you guess what the large muddy sandals are for?) And she is sure that it's not her "puppy" (which is actually her Shaman pet), because he has "small feets."
Hand her the "large muddy sandals." Brokk Boxtripper is the culprit. She gives you a note to give to him. Do a find for him, as the Shaman guild in Ogguk is labyrinthine.
Give the note to Brokk and he explains that he was too embarrassed by what he had done to apologize, but he gives you a parcel to give to Bozlum.
Return to Bozlum (in the Shaman Guild) and give her the parcel. Apparently, it's flowers. And Bozlum says that Brokk gave her too many, so she gives you one. The snow blossoms. Finito!
Yes, it's gay, but it's also easy.
Go in [ ] 3d. Innoruuk's Word
Part Four: [ ] 4a. Spoon
Cazel, the named Hill Giant in South Ro drops this piece. You might want a group for this, if you're talking about 51st level. He is a powerhouse and regenerates like a fiend. Kill Giants to get him to spawn.
[ ] 4b. One Key [ ] 4c. Lost Scroll [ ] 4d. Book of Charm and Sacrifice
Part Five: [ ] 5a. Diamond [ ] 5b. Sapphire [ ] 5c. Ruby [ ] 5d. Emerald
Part Six: [ ] 6a. Head of the Serpent
This fight is in the Plane of Fear and arguably the biggest bottleneck in the epic quest. The drop is from "Wraith of a Shissar." Good luck with this. I would send a powerhouse group in the clear the zone first.
[ ] 6b. Essence of a Ghost The Hole. You need to kill Kindle for this one. She's in the first building past the giant golems, where the gargoyles spawn on the roof.
[ ] 6c. Essence of a Vampire Female Forsaken Revenants in Plane of Fear drop this piece. Rare drop. Pack a lunch.
[ ] 6d. Sands of the Mystics
Dire Charm Pendel Dashinger (ordinary charms do not land on him) and sick him on the gigantic ape (The Tangrin, on the larger island in Field of Bone). Even if you don't buff Pendel, you will see a wholesale slaughter. Pendle defeats the Tangrin almost effortlessly. Keep the fight on the island, though. The Tangrin will not leave the island unless you pull him there.
The Tangrin drops the Sands of the Mystics.
